This schedule is not finalized and will be updated periodically.
Have you ever wondered how to shoot landscapes? You will have a chance to learn in Malta, if you wish. You can soak up new techniques from two of iStock's landscape masters: evilclown and subman. Bring: a wide angle lens, polarizer and, most importantly, your tripod. Dates and exact locations TBA.
Day 1 - Sunday, June 15, 2008
- Arrive in Malta. Put on your sunscreen and get some sand in your shoes.
- Evening meet and greet.
- Cocktails and Cuisine: This is a great day for those pub crawlers to get to try out local nightlife; pubs like Muddy Waters, Club 22, or a quiet drink at Saddles. For those wanting to eat out, the choice of good eats in the area is vast. Amongst some of the good ones are: Peppinos, La Dolce Vita, Bouzouki (for some great Greek food), Zen, or Barracuda or Piccolo Padre. L- Ordine. StarWebMalta has some great tourism tips for food, entertainment and shopping.
Day 2 - Monday, June 16
- Group Welcome Meeting.
- Free Day. Here's your chance to get to know the island and see the sights on your own time. Meet your old friends from other iStock events and your new friends from this one.
- Afternoon shoot in Mdina, the former capital of Malta. We'll be doing an optional shoot in the city, but we only have limited space. We could organize a Karrozin (typical horse drawn carriage), and organize Pastizzi for the event round up. This is the silent city, so no shouting will be allowed.
Day 3 - Tuesday, June 17
- We head off to visit Gozo, Malta's smaller Sister island. Life takes a slower pace here. Nothing is rushed... and we won't either. A shoot at the Azure Window and the Dwejra inland sea are planned and a few other surprises will follow.
Day 4 - Wednesday, June 18
- Full day photo shoot in Valletta.
- This time we'll bring along some models for a whole day of shooting. We'll set up 3 or 4 stations, and cover some of the sights of Valletta including the Mediterranean Conference center, the Barakka Upper Gardens, the waterfront and the Malta Tourism Authorities Courtyard.
- We'll also have a beach-side BBQ organized later that evening, so bring your flip flops or sandals, and a guitar if you can play for us!
Day 5 - Thursday, June 19
- Full day boat trip with a stop in Comino (Beach Shoot) aboard the MS Fernandes, a lovely schooner rigged with a Turkish gullet.
- Put on more sunscreen. We're taking a boat out to Comino to spend a relaxing afternoon on the beach. There will be photo opportunities for those interested, and probably cocktails with umbrellas served in fancy glasses. The boat trip itself will be the stage for the pirate shoot you always wanted, or some deep blue natural backdrop the Mediterranean has to offer.
Day 6 - Friday, June 20
- We've set this whole day aside for shooting, and are in the process of lining up 3 different guided tours. More details to follow. It may be towards the south of the island, in the three cities with three different concepts, including a lifestyle shoot in a yacht marina, some medieval military reenactment and another to be determined adventure.
- Evening Party - Our big night out on the town with some drinks and probably dancing. Time and location will be announced. We'll set up a time and location and for those who want to come out.
Day 7 - Saturday, June 21
- Megalithic Temple Photo Shoot Opportunity (Sunrise 6:00 am) - Those of you who stuck to just dinner last night can make it out to shoot the sunrise at the Temple. We'll see the rest of you a little later. There will be a short boat trip to the Blue Grotto and the possibility to lunch nearby. Since it's a fishing village, be sure to try the seafood platters
- Free Day - See how much of Malta you can fit in or just take it easy.
- After Party - We will be mixing and mingling, checking out the shots from the event and maybe even putting on our dancing shoes.
- The After-After Party - Knowing some of our frequent 'Lypse attendees, there will probably be a call for a party once the party is over. We will be scouting ahead for a suitable night-owl venue. We will set up a time and location, and for those who can make it all night we will offer you a party after the party.
Day 8 - Sunday, June 22
- Departure from Malta. See you next time!
