Morning workshop

The Business of Stock: Microstock Stories

Featuring: Kelly Thompson (kkthompson), Lise Gagne (lisegagne), Eva Serrabassa (caracterdesign) & Joey Boylan (kangah)

A discussion of the modern stock industry, addressing topics such as how the industry has changed over the past decade, royalty free vs. rights managed vs. microstock, choosing a stock agency, and model releases and copyright considerations. Also discussing some shooting-for-stock tips on what makes a great stock image (and what doesn't) and using your stock portfolio to market your commercial work.

Embrace the adventure, idealism and spirit of a trendy urban couple; with their scooter, wandering in the park, eating, walking, and exploring as students might if they were studying abroad, newly dating and seeing the sites together.

Lighting and Retouching for Photography

Iconogenic shares her expertise in photography and retouching, drawn from a career of post-processing assignments for magazines such as Dutch Playboy. A coaching session on retouching for flawless skin/glamour/fashion, lighting tips for beauty and selecting the right image.

Inspired by the regal, decadent life of the 18th century; come see a beautifully styled Marie Antoinette and a dashing man at her side. This shoot however isn't limited to any time period. It's about fun, extravagance, love and adventure in every age.

Workflow and Image Processing with Nik Software.

Hosted by: Nik Software expert and image processing guru Benoit Aragou.

Benoit will provide attendees with training on how to increase picture quality - quickly and with ease - using Nik Software. A seminar to learn creative ways to enhance color or add drama, develop and improve your workflows, and create more amazing imagery with the Nik Software product suite. Nik Software has become the recognized leader in digital photographic filter development and produces award-winning technology and software products for digital photography and imaging professionals.

Explore the inside of office buildings, around the stairwells, and the hallways in business suits and briefcases. Look beyond the suits and ties you see everyday and capture a new perspective on daily business gatherings and human interaction.

Final wrap-up party

Please RSVP in the Lounge when you check in if you plan to attend our big final party Saturday night. We will keep it closed - iStock members, guests, staff & ambassadors - from 19:45 until 22:00, and then open the doors for other SWPA goers after that.


Sunday, April 25th

Morning workshop

The New Business of Photography
Location / Lieu: Palais des Festivals / Salle de Presse
Time / Heure: 10:00

Featuring: Eva Serrabassa (caracterdesign), Joan Vicent Cantó (SensorSpot) & Alexey Ivanov (Studioxil)

The seminar addresses building a personal style/portfolio, marketing yourself and building a client base (personal sites, social media, microstock) and include business considerations such as taxes and incorporating as a business versus contractor. Learn tips for working with a team including stylists and makeup artists as well as working for a client/art director and knowing when to say no to a client.
